48 Adorable Cocker Spaniel Mixes (With Pictures)

Cocker Spaniel mixed breeds

The number of Cocker Spaniel mixes has continuously grown throughout the years. Breeders have combined the Cocker Spaniel with several other dog breeds to create wonderful, charming, and loving companions.

The Cocker Spaniel is an intelligent, high-spirited, and gentle dog that spent years as America’s most popular breed. The Cocker is also American Kennel Club’s (AKC) smallest sporting Spaniel.

Although Cocker Spaniels are great purebred pups, Cocker Spaniel mixes make just as wonderful companions. The different combinations result in some of the most endearing physical features and lovable temperaments.

48 Cocker Spaniel Mixes

As of writing, there are 48 known Cocker Spaniel mixes, and breeders continue to look into how to improve the breed further. Although spaniels typically stand at around 13 to 15 inches tall, Cocker Spaniel mixes can have different heights and physical appearances depending on their genetics.

Cocker Spaniels are known for their adorable round eyes, long, beautiful ears, and coats that come in a variety of colors.

If you’re interested in purchasing or adopting a Cocker Spaniel mix, the following sections will serve as your comprehensive guide on which mixed breed would suit you best.

1. Bocker

Parent Breeds: Beagle & Cocker Spaniel

The Bocker is a mix of the Beagle and the Cocker Spaniel. This designer dog is known for being a very loyal, obedient, and assertive pup that would do anything to protect its owners and family.

Since both parent breeds have long, floppy ears, you can expect a Bocker to inherit the same. The rest of its physical features may vary depending on which parent dog it takes after the most.

The Bocker may either have a short and smooth coat like the Beagle or a long and wavy one like the Cocker Spaniel. It may come in several color combinations, including black, white, tan, red, and brown.

My long-time veterinarian and friend used to own a Bocker whose energy level was so insatiable. She attributed this more to the Beagle parent. This energy then required it to have a rather large appetite.

Due to this, she ensured to supplement her Bocker’s diet with regular exercise to avoid bloating, a condition common to Beagles.

2. Bologco

Parent Breeds: Bolognese & Cocker Spaniel

The Bologco is a cross between a Bolognese and a Cocker Spaniel. This mixed breed is known for being very devoted, playful, and easygoing. It adores spending time with its owners and bonding closely through different activities.

Since both parent dogs are some of the smallest breeds, you expect a Bologco to have a small and compact body build as well. It typically stands at 12 to 15 inches and can weigh around 8 to 12 pounds.

Bologcos typically have a medium to long coat, which is inherited from the Bolognese parent. Given its length, it tends to shed moderately throughout the year. Regular brushing and grooming are recommended for coat health.

Bologcos are usually friendly and sweet-natured dogs. If exposed to early obedience training and proper socialization, they often get along very well with people and other pets.

Foxkers are known for being very intelligent, outgoing, and alert dogs. Despite their adorable size and physical appearance, this pup can be very confident and assertive. Their distrust toward strangers makes them keen watchdogs.

Due to their outgoing and witty nature, they may develop stubborn tendencies. Early obedience training and proper socialization are encouraged to prevent the development of a stubborn streak in Foxkers.

5. Spanador

Parent Breeds: Labrador Retriever & Cocker Spaniel

The Spanador is a mix of the Labrador Retriever and the Cocker Spaniel. Due to the rather large size difference between both parent dogs, Spanadors may often vary in size and physical appearance.

As an experienced breeder, I find it necessary to advise breeders of said mixes to ensure that the larger breed, in this case, the Labrador, is always the female and the smaller breed, the male or the Cocker Spaniel. This prevents difficulty in pregnancy and possible dystocia for the mother dog.

If you’re searching for an affectionate, loyal, and high-spirited family dog, the Spanador could be the perfect pup for you. Spanadors love spending time with their owners and enjoy doing fun activities where they can bond closely.

Spanadors are very friendly and outgoing pups, traits they often inherit from both parent breeds. They typically get along well with other pets as well as strangers or unfamiliar faces.

Given their high energy levels, Spanadors are most suitable for individuals or families with an active lifestyle. Regular walks and other activities are encouraged to keep their energy levels at bay.

Behavior-wise, I had the chance to encounter the Cockeranian of an old friend named Pommy, and I would have to say that she can be very yappy in nature, which it inherited from its Pomeranian parent. This made Pommy a great watchdog but not a guard dog.

Pommy would always bark at strangers but never bite. She would only run around an unfamiliar human or dog while making noises and only stop when someone picked her up.
